Tell us a little about Jackie's Kreations:
I specialize in bags/purses that are made out of military uniforms. I
have wanted to do this for sometime now and I finally took the plunge. If all the things I have done this is by far the most
rewarding. I made a bag for a young lady whose husband is in the Army. She started carrying it the day she received it
and that is when I started receiving orders. People would come up to her and wanted to know where she got it and where they
could get one so I guess you can say the rest is history. I have been truly blessed.
What made you start your own business:
I have been trying to start a craft business for sometime now. I have tried all kinds of things from painting on wood,
rocks to making cloth dolls. I do believe I have finally found my niche making my bags out of the military uniforms.
How
did you come up with your business name:
I wanted something easy to remember so I just used my name Jackie and added Kreations
to it. Jackie’s Kreations.
What do you enjoy most about having your own business:
Not having to work for someone
else. I enjoy being home and creating. I find what I do very rewarding. When my customers email me and tell me how
much they love their bag that gives me the greatest joy anyone could ever ask for.
How do you balance family and your business:
I work when my husband is at work. I do my best to put it aside when he is off. Sometimes that does not always work. I feel a tug to go to my shop to work. I am completely dedicated to what I do.
If you could offer one piece of advice to
those new in the business what would it be:
If you have a passion for what you are doing, don’t give up.
If
you knew then what you know today would you do anything different:
I wish that I had started this business years ago.
