Fun Ornaments
Using Crayola "Model Magic" you can make fun ornaments of your childs' hand prints or your pets' paw prints. It's much less expensive then the kits they sell in stores and you have an array of colors and shapes to choose from.

1. Knead the desired amount of “Model Magic” for about a minute to rid the material of any air
bubbles.

2. On a smooth flat surface, roll out the “Model Magic” to about 1/3 inch. (The model magic does
stick a bit so try to do this in a place where you can leave the finished project to air dry
overnight before moving it.)

3. Have your child press their hand (or foot) firmly into the material, or grab your dog or kitty and
quickly and firmly press their paw into the material.

4. If you like the print great, go on to the next step. If not, just start over again until you get a print
that you like.

5. You can either free-hand cut around the imprint or use a cookie cutter to cut out the imprint.
The cookie cutter method works great because you get nice clean lines and the shape
possibilities are many. (Just make sure the cookie cutter is large enough to cut around the
imprint.)

6. Remove the excess “Model Magic” from around the cut out shape and use to make another
ornament or store in the bag with the remainder of the “Model Magic”.

7. Don’t forget to make a hole for threading string or ribbon through for hanging your ornament. I
used a small straw.

8. Leave ornament to air dry over night, after 12-24 hours pry the ornament off the smooth flat
surface. I found that using a thin metal spatula worked perfectly. If the ornament does not
seem dry enough, leave to dry for another day.

9. Once dry you can paint and decorate your new ornament any way you want. I found that
spraying it with a protective clear coat made the ornament shiny and very durable.

Enjoy your personal imprint for years to come!
